Everyone’s talking about China. And if you’re not, you’re probably wearing or using something that was made there. With one of the oldest civilizations, a violent, imperial, and often reclusive past, and a now booming economy that promises to take over the world, China is charging headlong into modernity. A terrain as diverse as the cuisine, an ancient, all-pervasive culture, and some of the most modern cities on earth, China is an absolute must-see. To get under its skin, read ‘The Good Earth’ by Pearl S Buck, watch Zhang Yimou’s ‘Raise The Red Lantern’ and listen to the Chinese National Orchestra.
