Offering high-end tourism with world-class boutique resorts that dot its 33 kilometre-long coastline, it offers nature lovers and beach bums, culture lovers and urban enthusiasts dramatic landscapes, beautiful beaches and lagoons, vast stretches of sugarcane plantations and virgin forests as well as some of Africa's richest cities. To get under the Mauritian skin, read 'Paul et Virginie' by Bernadine de St Pierre, listen to Creole singer, Jean Claude-Monique and watch 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai' a lot of which was shot in Mauritius.
