Best time to visit: December to March. The average temperature in Sri Lanka is 27.0°C. The highest monthly average temperature is 31°C in February, March, April and May, while the lowest monthly average temperature is 22°C in January and February.






What to Eat and Drink
Lankan cuisine has a lot in common with South Indian cuisine. There is generous use of coconuts, spices and seafood and the staple food is curry, rice and fresh fruits.

Lamprais: Rice boiled in stock with a special curry, accompanied by meatballs, which are wrapped in a banana leaf and baked
Appa: Hoppers made from fermented batter of rice flour, coconut milk and palm toddy, cooked in a hemispherical wok-like pan
Kottu Roti: A mixture of chopped roti, vegetables and a choice of meat
Pittu: A mixture of lightly roasted rice-meal powder, grated coconut, steamed in a bamboo mold

Kiri bath: Sweet rice cooked in coconut milk
Wattal appam: Egg pudding
Kiri peni: A desert made of curd and honey
